What gives YOU hope around climate change?
Folks in the audience at this Zoom presentation commented about action, and community:
Get involved, do something, and do it with other people.
Sarah Kirn, our ABCD team member who helped facilitate the follow-up conversation with the presenters Lucas Richman and Kate Dickerson of the Maine Science Festival, shares her reflection:
"Hope really is a muscle. You make a decision to be hopeful, you find true things to be legitimately hopeful about, and you search out more things (and contribute to them, in whatever form you can) to be hopeful about, and keep the conversation there."

"The Warming Sea" is a symphonic exploration of hope in the face of climate change which will premiere in March 2022. Learn about this amazing collaboration between Maine Science Festival, Bangor Symphony Orchestra, and Grammy-award winning Lucas Richman: Conductor/Composer.
The foundation for creating "The Warming Sea" was a series of interviews with scientists, fisheries experts, and others who are knowledgeable about climate change in the Gulf of Maine... and with Maine middle school students. Richman asked each class of students, "‘What would you want to feel at the end of this piece? What would be an important message for you and your generation?’ And invariably, each class came up with the word hope.”
