Description
I was working on a much larger watercolor of a yellow grouper (see my website, arthurlnichols.com), and was wondering about the beauty of the ocean, its wildness as the least explored part of our planet Earth, and how its bounty nourishes us in so many ways....and then I thought about how we manage to corrupt the beauty around us if we are not careful, caring, and kind.
Over the years, different campaigns have been put to good use to try to keep trash from being indiscriminately discarded; “Don't Bee a Litterbug!” “Give a Hoot, don't Pollute!”, both of course championed by a happy, anthropomorphized creature, but I think they work.
Maybe it's time for a new anti-pollution campaign directed at the future generations, maybe like 'Air Heroes', but maybe skip the merchandising.... even as we teach kids to 'do well by doing good'. Ah, progress.
